Range Rules: How To Trade The Bull Bear Line Breakout Into NVIDIA
Posted: Thursday August 27, 2026
Today’s entire ES futures morning briefing hangs on one thing… how the RTH session digests NVIDIA earnings from after the close. George built the plan around a single drawing level, the Bull Bear Line, and one governing idea: range rules. The first time ES pushes back inside the range, it most likely fails. Yesterday’s RTH High and the strong range above it are the levels that decide whether we rotate higher or reject. This session is a masterclass in trading FOR the breakout instead of trying to time it, and in knowing when a lotto runner is smart and when it is reckless.
TIP OF THE DAY: RANGE RULES
If you learn one thing from George, even if you never become a member, learn this… range rules. Price spends most of its life inside ranges, bouncing between the same levels. Learning to identify the range and to train the edges together makes it easier, but the principle stands on its own.
The skill is simple to say and hard to master. Mark the range. Look for shorts at the top, longs at the bottom. Hold a lotto runner only when price breaks your direction. That is the S&P 500 futures value area high low game played every single day.
Trader Lesson 1
Range rules. Identify the range first, then look for shorts at the top and longs at the bottom. Everything else is noise until you know where the walls are.
STRONG LEVELS AND THE SINGLE PRINTS
Strong Levels are horizontal lines George publishes for members… the levels he believes will be the most important reaction zones for the week. A Strong Range is two of those lines with space between them, a defined band price rotates inside. All week ES has been bouncing back and forth against these Strong Levels, and they played beautifully Monday and Tuesday.
The single prints from Tuesday landed at the exact locations of those Strong Ranges. Single prints are price levels that traded through fast with no volume build, and they act like magnets. When he got on Zoom yesterday, George mapped just three lines:
- Single Print 1: the upper edge, treated like the top of a range.
- Single Print 2: the lower edge, treated like the bottom of a range.
- Asia Overnight Low: added as the third reference for the session.
The instruction was to treat the single prints like a range. Shorts in the red at the top. Longs in the green at the bottom. Hold a lotto runner in case price broke your direction. That is the breakout setup, and it works hand in hand with range rules.
HOW TO TRADE THE BREAKOUT (NOT TIME IT)
Most traders try to TIME the breakout. They wait for the pop and chase. George trades FOR the breakout, which is a different animal. When you have an established range, you position at the edges and let the runner do the work if price chooses your direction.
Here is the mechanic in both directions:
- Playing the break down: at the top of the range you look for shorts. If price breaks your direction, you are already holding a lotto runner to ride it.
- Playing the break up: at the bottom of the range you look for longs. Price typically breaks, retests the range, and then goes. In this case the Bulls won, and long was the only thing you were looking for.
You are not predicting the exact second of the break. You are stationed at the level with a Core Strategy entry or a Battle Plan entry, holding a runner so the move pays you when it comes.
Trader Lesson 2
Trade FOR the breakout, do not try to time it. Station yourself at the range edge, take the entry, and hold a runner so the break pays you when it happens.
THE RUNNER INTO NVIDIA: WHEN A LOTTO RUNNER IS RECKLESS
Here is the honest caveat George put on the table. Holding a lotto runner through NVIDIA earnings was difficult to impossible… reckless. That kind of binary event can gap right over your stop and hurt you, and it could have easily broken the other way. The runner worked this time, but that does not make it a good decision.
Trader Lesson 3
A lotto runner into a binary event like NVIDIA earnings is reckless, even when it pays. The setup being right does not make the risk right.
OVERNIGHT AND THE BULL BEAR LINE
Yesterday George called it… the first time ES is back inside this range, it will fail. That range begins at the Bull Bear Line, the key level dividing bullish and bearish behavior. Overnight we gapped up into it. Battle Plan 1 had a long off the bottom of the range, and there was a little move, but no real follow through.
Why no follow through? Because the first push back inside an established range most likely fails. That rejection lined up exactly with Battle Plan idea number two, a possible short on the rejection of the Bull Bear Line. There were seven Battle Plan ideas published last night, so the plan had the level mapped from both sides.
- Most important level: yesterday’s RTH High.
- Next most important: the Strong Range above it. Get back inside that Strong Range and we are probably rotating higher.
- The path higher: a nice pullback, fill the gap, then ladder back with a vengeance. A second push into the range can actually work where the first one failed.
George stated he was short, staying short while price held under the Bull Bear Line, and would flip to looking long only on a charge back above it. As price sank to the gap he planned to tighten the stop. Every time price tried to push back in, it got pushed right back out.
WHY SO EARLY, AND WHY IT’S ALL ABOUT NVIDIA
George ran this briefing early on purpose, because he does not think the pre-open map will matter much. No sir re Bob, we are not all on the same page yet. This session is all about NVIDIA. How the RTH session responds to those earnings is what determines the day, and until RTH prints, everything is provisional.
That is the discipline lesson underneath it. When a single overnight event owns the tape, you moderate expectations, respect the level, and let price show its hand before you commit size.
Trader Lesson 4
When one event owns the tape, sometimes it’s not the points earned that matter, it’s the points saved and the points planned. Respect the level and let RTH prove the direction.
THREE WAYS WE TRADE: BATTLE PLAN, ZOOM, CORE STRATEGY
Everything in the room runs through three tools. Each one does a distinct job, and together they keep traders on the right side of price action in a calm, patient environment.
- The Battle Plan: the written daily trade plan. Fewer, higher quality, pre-planned entries mapped out on your TradingView chart with high probability reaction zones. Those zones are the Strong Levels.
- Zoom: live training across more than 2,000 sessions. We train the Battle Plan, train Core Strategy, and take extra trades together in real time.
- Core Strategy: the advanced scalping system built on three primary bounce levels. When price hits the line, it bounces. You do not wait for it to run five to ten points and then chase… your lines match George’s lines, black and white.
Members who complete the badge challenge and earn all four badges get George personally reviewing their chart to confirm they are marking their levels correctly. Housekeeping from the week: George published three YouTube videos, and the NES Nano contract was approved by the regulators this week, with volume still building before it becomes tradeable.
Trader Lesson 5
A slow, event-driven day is training time. Work the Core Strategy, chase the next badge, and mark your levels so they match… build the trader you want to be while the market is not paying.
“You don’t time the breakout… you trade FOR the breakout. Station yourself at the level and let price prove your direction.”
COMMON QUESTIONS FOR ES FUTURES TRADERS
What does “range rules” mean in ES futures trading?
A: Range rules is the idea that price spends most of its time inside defined ranges, bouncing between the same levels. Once you identify the range, you look for shorts at the top and longs at the bottom. It is the foundation of trading ES micro futures because it tells you where the walls are before you commit to a trade.
What is the Bull Bear Line?
A: The Bull Bear Line is the key level that divides bullish behavior from bearish behavior. Above it, buyers have control and you look for longs. Below it, sellers have control and you look for shorts. It marked the beginning of the current range, which is why it was today’s most important drawing level.
Why does the first push back into a range usually fail?
A: When ES leaves a range and then returns, the first attempt to re-enter typically gets rejected because the level that caused the break still holds order flow against it. That is why George expected a rejection at the Bull Bear Line and looked for a short there. A second push, after a pullback and gap fill, often has better odds.
What are Strong Levels and a Strong Range?
A: Strong Levels are horizontal lines George publishes for members marking the most important reaction zones for the week. A Strong Range is two of those lines with space between them, a defined band price rotates inside. Get back inside a Strong Range and price is likely to rotate through it.
What are single prints and why do they matter?
A: Single prints are price levels that traded through very quickly with no volume build. They act like magnets and often line up with Strong Ranges, as Tuesday’s single prints did. George treats them like the edges of a range… shorts at the upper print, longs at the lower print.
How do you trade a breakout instead of timing it?
A: Timing a breakout means chasing price after it pops, which is low odds. Trading for the breakout means stationing yourself at the range edge, taking a Core Strategy or Battle Plan entry, and holding a lotto runner so the move pays you if price breaks your direction. You let the structure work rather than predicting the exact moment.
When is holding a lotto runner a bad idea?
A: A lotto runner is reckless through a binary event like NVIDIA earnings or a major report. Those events can gap right over your stop and hurt you regardless of your setup. The runner worked this time, but a good setup does not justify holding size into a scheduled shock.
What is the Battle Plan?
A: The Battle Plan is George’s written daily ES trade plan, published the night before. It maps fewer, higher quality, pre-planned entries onto your TradingView chart with high probability reaction zones. Last night’s plan carried seven Battle Plan ideas, including a long off the range bottom and a short on the Bull Bear Line rejection.
What is Core Strategy?
A: Core Strategy is Micros Trader’s advanced scalping system built on three primary bounce levels. When price reaches the line, it bounces, so you do not have to wait for it to run five to ten points before entering. Members are trained until their lines match George’s lines exactly.
