MES MICROS TRADE PLAN
Stand Down Mode: Bulls Control as ES Surges to 2% From All-Time High
Posted: Wednesday April 15, 2026
Stand Down. For the second consecutive day, no ES futures daily trade setups were mapped — and that was exactly the right call. After a 220+ point monster rally from Sunday night’s battle plan longs, ES futures surged to within 1.6% — just 116 points — of the all-time high. Year-to-date is now green. There are no sellers. There is no laddering down. In this MES micro futures trade plan session, Micros Trader explained exactly why chasing a stretched, thin-air market is one of the most dangerous things a trader can do. Two disciplined counter short attempts were taken, both managed correctly with break-even exits, and the platform was closed. The session also featured the launch of Chart Buddy — a virtual stream deck for TradingView — available to all paid members.
Market Conditions: Stand Down, Day Two
Two consecutive days of no battle plan trades. That is not a failure — that is the highest-probability decision in this environment. After a 220+ point monster rally from Sunday night’s longs with virtually no pullback, ES stretched into thin, low-volume structure with nothing to lean against.
- Bull control — vicious: There are no sellers. There is no laddering down. Every short is counter, full stop.
- Can’t short it: Even knowing a massive liquidation break is coming on bad news someday, Micros Trader has already accepted he will almost certainly not be in that trade.
- Can’t long it: With price stretched this far and no structure to lean against, chasing a long is equally indefensible.
- Year-to-date green: ES crossed the 2026 RTH open price during today’s session. The full year’s losses have been recovered.
- 1.6% from the all-time high: At session end, ES was 116 points from the all-time high. The ATH is within reach with minimal effort from bulls.
The volume profile told the story early. After-hours volume was so concentrated at the spike high that it skewed the POC sharply upward — confirmation that 6900 (the base of Tuesday’s end-of-day spike) is now the most important level on the chart. If price gets back under 6900, the conversation changes. Above it, bulls are in full control.
Counter Trading Rules in a Bull Trend
Micros Trader took two counter short attempts today and executed both correctly. Neither made money. Neither lost money. Both were textbook examples of how to trade counter in a ripping bull trend. Here are the rules he laid out live:
- Shorts are counter — small if at all. If you choose to short, you are fighting price. Own that. Trade accordingly.
- Enter near your stop loss location. If your stop is 3 points above entry, put your entry at 2.5 points above. Give it a little extra room without giving it extra room. If it misses you — good. If it ladders, you’re in at the best spot.
- It has to work right away — or you’re out. When you’re counter, there is zero tolerance for waiting and hoping. If it doesn’t move immediately in your favor, exit.
- Two counter losses in a row = platform closed. No exceptions. Two losers proves you are on the wrong side of price action. Remove yourself.
- Never make things worse. The golden rule. Once your stop is set, you cannot move it. Park your DOM out of view if you have to.
Key Levels & Chart Structure
With no battle plan trades to map, level awareness is everything. Here is what Micros Trader was tracking throughout the RTH session:
- 6900 — Base of Tuesday’s spike: The most important level on the chart. The first road sign down. Below it, the conversation changes. Above it, bulls control.
- 2026 RTH Open Price: Crossed to the upside during today’s session. Year-to-date is officially green.
- Weekly highs (multiple): Tagged sequentially throughout the session. No sellers at any of them.
- Weekly expected range — top: ES reached the top of the expected weekly range — the same range it was near Sunday night from the opposite side.
- RTH half back (untested in RTH): Tested in the overnight session, not yet in RTH. Noted as an overhead reference point.
- Strong range ~6972–6973: Where counter short entries were placed. Strong ranges act like spider webs — price bounces top and bottom before breaking.
- Fair value gaps (30-min chart): Multiple large gaps visible. Shorting into fair value gaps in this environment is a death wish.
- All-time high: 116 points — 1.6% — away at session end.
The Emotional Barometer: Should I Be Trading?
One of the most valuable things Micros Trader did today was be honest — out loud, on Zoom — about his emotional state. He admitted aggravation. Frustrated at missing the continuation of Sunday’s long. That kind of transparency is rare and instructive for futures trading psychology.
- Am I biased? Am I following price or fighting it?
- Am I aggravated? Is my next trade a revenge trade or a real trade?
- What is my primary role right now? On Zoom, it is being the best navigator — not the best trader. Those are separate priorities.
The practical tool reinforced today: keep the platform closed until you have decided — out loud — that you are going to take a specific trade. An open platform is an invitation to impulse. A closed platform is a commitment to wait for your trade.
Chart Buddy Launch: Virtual Stream Deck for TradingView
Micros Trader launched Chart Buddy today — a Python-based virtual stream deck that gives traders one-click control over their TradingView setup. Available to all paid members, including Bronze level.
- Actions: Program multiple TradingView behaviors into a single button — change timeframes, load indicator sets, open folders, set chart positioning.
- Toggles: Turn individual indicators (volume profile, strong levels) on and off with a single tap.
- Screenshot: One-click image capture downloaded directly to your chosen folder.
- Built-in Trade Journal: Full session journal with trade tickets, P&L by discipline, direction, and session — plus HTML report generation.
- TradingView app required: Chart Buddy launches TradingView in a special debug mode. Desktop app required — browser version will not work.
- PC version: A known issue with the launch path on Windows is being resolved. A patch will be announced in the Discord group.

Community Highlights
Even on a Stand Down day, the trading room delivered.
- Darren: Monster trade Tuesday — captured his first 100-pointer. Beautiful execution.
- Chad: Got long off a strong level using a low-timeframe entry. Classic Core Strategy.
- James: Took the correct trade today — a long off the bottom of the strong range, with the trend. That is the one worth journaling.
- Laxmi: First day as a paid member on Zoom. A Stand Down day on day one is not what most hope for — but it is one of the most valuable lessons the room can deliver.
- Jake: Given access to the full Discord Trading Floor.
- Roger: 48 hours into a 3-day fast. An inspiration.
Sunday night’s battle plan longs are now up over 200 points. If you are still holding — congratulations. The trade worked beautifully for everyone who followed the plan.
“I know it will be time to trade when people freak out about what the news is. That typically means a series of 15+ point candles. Mark my words.”
COMMON QUESTIONS FOR ES FUTURES TRADERS
What does “Stand Down” mean and when should a trader declare it?
A: Stand Down is Micros Trader’s term for a deliberate pause from trading — not because of fear, but because the current price action offers no high-probability setup worth defending. It is declared when conditions are stretched, thin, or structurally ambiguous: after a massive one-directional move with no pullback, near all-time highs with no sellers, or when there is simply nothing to lean against. Standing Down is an active decision, not passive. It protects capital and emotional equity until a real trade location emerges.
Why were no battle plan trades mapped for the second consecutive day?
A: After a 220+ point monster rally from Sunday night with virtually no pullback, ES was trading in thin, low-volume structure with no key level to lean against on either side. You cannot short a move of this magnitude without extreme risk, and you cannot long at the top of a historic rally with confidence. With price 1.6% from the all-time high and no sellers in sight, the only defensible trade plan was no trade plan.
What are the rules for taking counter trades in a bull trend?
A: Counter trades in a bull trend must follow strict rules: (1) Size down — small if at all. (2) Enter near where you would normally place your stop loss, giving yourself the best possible location. (3) The trade must work immediately — if it doesn’t move in your favor right away, exit. No waiting, no hoping. (4) If you take two counter trades and both are losers, close the platform and stop. Two losses proves you are on the wrong side of price action. (5) Never move your stop once it is set — never make things worse.
What is the 6900 level and why is it so important?
A: 6900 is the base of the massive end-of-day spike that occurred Tuesday afternoon. During that spike, so much volume transacted at the high that it skewed the volume profile’s Point of Control (POC) sharply upward. This tells Micros Trader that 6900 is the first meaningful structural road sign below current price. If ES gets back under 6900, the market narrative changes and new trade setups become possible. Above it, bulls are firmly in control and the Stand Down continues.
What is the “Should I Be Trading?” barometer and how do you use it?
A: The emotional barometer is a set of three questions every trader should ask before opening their platform: Am I biased toward a direction right now? Am I following price or fighting it? Am I carrying emotional baggage — aggravation, FOMO, or frustration — from a recent trade? If the honest answer to any of these creates doubt, the barometer says no. A practical tool that reinforces this: keep your trading platform closed until you have decided out loud that you are going to take a specific, pre-planned trade. An open platform invites impulse. A closed one enforces discipline.
What are “holy crap candles” and why does Micros Trader watch for them?
A: Holy crap candles are a series of 15+ point candles that signal a sudden, violent shift in price action — typically triggered by a major news catalyst. Micros Trader watches for these because they indicate the type of environment where a real trade setup can emerge. The signal he waits for: members of the Discord group start posting news and reacting with urgency. That tells him the market is moving on something real and it is time to re-engage. Until then, Stand Down.
What is Chart Buddy and how is it different from Battle Plan Buddy?
A: Chart Buddy is a Python-based virtual stream deck for TradingView, built by Micros Trader and launched today. It allows traders to program one-click actions that control multiple TradingView functions simultaneously — changing timeframes, loading indicator sets, toggling on and off individual tools like volume profile or strong levels, and taking screenshots. It also includes a built-in trade journal with HTML report generation showing P&L by discipline, direction, and session. Battle Plan Buddy is a separate tool that displays Micros Trader’s mapped battle plan trades and notes directly on the chart. Chart Buddy is about chart control. Battle Plan Buddy is about trade plan delivery. Both are available to paid members.
Why did Micros Trader take break-even exits on his counter shorts instead of letting them run?
A: When trading counter to the trend, the tolerance for heat is near zero. Both of Micros Trader’s shorts were taken with 2-point stops at levels he identified as potentially turning points. When price did not immediately follow through with the move he wanted — and instead came back toward his entry — the correct exit was break even. He was not willing to take a loss on a counter trade in a vicious bull trend. Once price proved it was not going to give him the move, he got out clean. That is the professional standard: when counter, it works right away or you exit. No grudge. No hold. No damage.
What does it mean to journal a counter trade correctly?
A: Journaling a counter trade is not just about recording profit or loss. It is about evaluating the process: Did you enter near your stop location? Did you size down? Did you exit immediately when it did not work? Did you close the platform after two attempts? A break-even exit on a counter trade in a bull market is a positive journal entry — it shows discipline. What Micros Trader pointed out today is that the long off the bottom of the strong range (with the trend) is an even better journal entry, because it required no special rules. It was simply the correct trade in the correct direction at the correct location.
