A Recap of Today’s Price Action & Setups:
OVERVIEW:
TRADE OF THE WEEK: Hold That Runner!
Once again, we had at least one Battle Plan that ran 100+ points.
This week – it was a short.
We traded it live on Zoom together with multiple traders capturing 30+ points.
This could have been a multi-day hold.
Not every account can hold over night, but if you can… learning to hold a runner with our 3-Contract System can be very very profitable.
Did I KNOW this would run 250-points?
Heck no.
I captured 40 points and called it the day. Additionally, I only entered with 1 contract – I treat ALL shorts small and with a scalpers mentality. A short has to behave perfectly for me to ‘stay short’ or add to my winning trade.
See the image/illustration below.
EXPECTED RANGE:
WOW… 221 Points!!!!
And… expect more WILD out-of-no-where candles.
Always trade with a stop and embrace the concept that being FLAT is a TRADE. You simply trade your time and watch, learn, and grow as a trader. Nothing wrong with mentally trading wild price action and journaling. Even professional athletes mentally rehearse their part of the symphony, proper blocking techniques, performance aircraft pilots also mentally rehearse – see the video below.
There are some days – it is a dress rehearsal!
This is a VERY cool video I think of often. (Military aviation nut here!)
SECOND LADDERS:
for those traders who demand that the chart forces them to trade, will wait for a second ladder, and that was an account-saving rule this week. You don’t have to be the first one counter; if you do, you better be very greedy and very quick to get out of the trade and never ever ever make things worse.
A week like this past week reveals holes in the boat.
Where are the holes in your boat?
Did you add to a loser?
Did you move your stop loss. Losing more than your original plan?
Did you add to a loser and move your stop loss? A double whammy?
Or… did you stay true to your trade plan?
Your P&L does not determine whether you had a great week… Your adherence to the discipline laid out in your trade plan does!
CAUTION:
A word of caution about abandoning your trade plan… or worse, thinking you need to overhaul it because you didn’t take many trades or didn’t have a monster week. This was a highly unusual week. Step back and see that for yourself.
One slow week does not make your system broken. One wild week does not make you a genius. The market will humble you fast if you start chasing results instead of trusting process.
I will remain steadfast and true to my system. And if all I make is 10 points at a time… I’m good with that. Consistency beats heroics every single time.
TIP OF THE DAY
Stick to your Trade Plan!
And traders without a trade plan… are completely lost on what to do right now.
